High Desert: High Desert (2014)

"Featuring former Shins member Marty Crandall and producer/engineer Nick Noeding Jr., High Desert's mix of electronic-pop and shoegaze is an amalgam of previous decades of sound while still feeling modern and fresh. Their combination of decades of production and songwriting skills proves to be highly effective in their first release. Marty and Nick have had plenty of experience in other projects (The Shins, Flake Music, Sad Baby Wold, Yourself, Pollination), which has matured their sound as a whole. Some Candy Talkin' remarked, "Fuzz sound and bedroom synth will bring you in the middle of the 80's." Atlas and the Anchor summed it up by saying, "Hazy layers of 80's-like synths and danceable rhythms combine with introspective lyrics and infectious dream-pop melodies for a very promising debut."
