Adobe and Teardrops Proud Compilation (Russian Winter Records, 2014)

Russian Winter Records announces the first releases in their Blog Compilation Series. The series features compilations curated by top music blogs, zines and podcasts. The first four compilations in the series have been released featuring: Adobe and Teardrops present “The Proud Compilation.” Adobe & Teardrops announce the release of Proud, a compilation CD to benefit Project FIERCE, a New York City-based organization that trains LGBTQ youth of color. Lending their talents to this album are artists spanning the gender and sexuality spectrum, including Brooklyn-based queer country band Karen and the Sorrows, Atlanta rocker Sonia Tetlow, folk-rock troubadour Matt Woods and New Orleans breakout singer Arsene DeLay. Available as a 500 CD Hand Numbered Limited Edition as well as a digital download through Bandcamp, with 25% of the proceeds donated to Project FIERCE.

Poncho Records Compilation Vol. 1 (2014)

This is our first ever compilation tape featuring 19 different artists, many of whom who have previously released music under Poncho Records, as well as some new friends. With 12 bands hailing from Halifax, NS, Canada, this release is definitive in the psych-movement happening within the music of our city. We are very proud of this release, and are glad that each of these artists were able to submit a track exclusively released on this cassette. 

Departure: Thai Indie Scene (2014)

The sixth installment of our compilation series entitled, 'Departure (Thai Indie Scene)', a collaborative effort between SEA Indie and SEA Indie/Thailand. Standing as an obscure and out-of-the-way music scene, the Thai Indie Scene is now growing faster than ever with the emergence of many new, young and talented bands, which indeed would make a worthwhile for exploring. This time round, we’ve taken music beyond language barriers, in order to uncover another hidden treasure of Southeast Asia’s music scenes. ‘Departure’ is a collection of the finest freshly minted songs from the Thai indie scene’s new and old fine fleur. This is a 17-track indiepop-driven compilation, with a mix of various music styles from alternative, rock, electronic, synth-pop and psychedelic folk. This should be a nice introduction to get you to know the scene and all the featured bands better.

All these songs are my favorite songs for autumn/winter 2012. Some of them are really sad, because I was putting them together in time when I was feeling a little bit depressed and lonely far away from home. But things are much better and I am happy to share my beautiful mixtape with you. These bands/musicians are my favorite ones and you should check all their stuff. The first time we had heard Connecticut mentioned in a national address by the president was about an elementary school shooting in Newtown. There is no easy way to process such an event, especially when realizing there is no way for it to be reversed. However, we wanted to create an opportunity to help give some positive meaning to the outcome. With the nation’s eye turned towards our humble state in the Northeast for the first time in a while, we want to show exactly how Connecticut can respond to tragedy. We did what we knew we could do best by calling on our Connecticut friends who care about Connecticut as much as we do. Nutmeg State of Mind is a collection of songs from Connecticut based musicians across several genres and styles compiled together to demonstrate our rich music scene and deep Connecticut pride while also attempting to address a problem in our country. Mental health is extremely important, but is often thought of as low priority in our culture. 100% of profits gathered from Nutmeg State of Mind will be donated to Mental Health America, an organization which does incredible work helping to suppress stigmas against mental health care and to provide those who can’t afford it with the help they need.
