"It's a damn fine year for garage here in 2011. There are already a couple of great artists on the table like Night Beats and The People's Temple, and albums from Mikal Cronin and Jacuzzi Boys are just around the corner. And now, on the heels of Castle Face's bountiful Group Flex Vol. 1 compilation, Bare Wires' latest is in the running for the year's most fun. Matthew Melton has been an RSTB fixture for years with Snake Flower 2 and earlier incarnations of Bare Wires; now, with the addition of Maybe Baby's Tennant McCabe on bass and Apache frontman Omar Hernandez on drums, the band have entered their most exciting period yet. Following their "Don't Ever Change" single, Melton and the boys have cranked out a potent mix of garage swagger and power-pop crunch that always seems to go down right. Bare Wires are at their best when the drums pound heavy in your ears and they crack the sugar-and-sweat vibe of the best Yellow Pills period. "Cheap Perfume"'s only fault is that once its short runtime ends you want to swing the stylus right back to the beginning" (Vía:Raven Sings the Blues)

Bare Wires: Wanna fight (Single, 2011)
"Thanks to Pirate Press, there's been a wonderful flood of flexi discs back into the world. You may have seen the recent Les Demoniaques flexi, or a few swimming around from Stones Throw, but so far those all pale in comparison to this 5x flexi book from the crew at Castle Face. Each of the bands on the roster-- Bare Wires, Blasted Canyons, Thee Oh Sees, The Fresh & Onlys, and Ty Segall pairing back up with Mikal Cronin-- appears in a ring-bound book of Flexi 7"s with art by William Keihn. There's even a bonus (and totally bonkers) track on the back page, attributed to a mystery group called Here Comes The Here Comes. If you're an avid fan of RSTB then you know that we couldn't be more excited about a release from so many past faves all in one place. There are some ace inclusions here, track-wise, including a Bowie cover from Ty and Mikal and burners from Bare Wires and Thee Oh Sees. These definitely won't stick around long, so if you're interested, the idea is to pick them up quick!" (Vía:Raven Sings the Blues)
