Yung Life: Yung life (Ep, 2012)

"Wow wow wow. I’ve been a fan of Yung Life since the band started releasing singles a few years ago and even I couldn’t have foreseen the band reaching the heights they do on their sophomore album. It’s as if the boys took a winning formula and strapped it to some fireworks and sat back as it lit up the sky with color and noise. All that’s left for you to do is lay back and enjoy the lightshow. The cover artwork is pretty much spot on and it perfectly mirrors the overall album. It’s unabashedly nostalgic for the 1980’s but it’s spit-shined and cleaned up to the point where you could eat off of it. Gone are any traces of lo-fi production quality and with them go any doubts surround Yung Life’s songwriting ability. These pop songs are not only catchy as hell but they are expertly crafted to the point where you could conceivably catch these tracks on the airways 20 some years ago. To say I’m thrilled by this album would be a major understatement. I thought that I was more or less done with the whole 80’s nostalgia wave, but this has reinvigorated me and I look forward to hot days spent with it this summer" (cactus-mouth.tumblr.com)
