Every Man a King is the full-length debut of MARTIN VAN RUIN. The new project from some familiar Chicago faces (members of Derek Nelson & The Musicians, Jenny Dragon, Planetsexploder), Every Man a King was written over a year and recorded and engineered by Neil Strauch (Bonnie Prince Billy, Iron and Wine).
Drawing praise from critics before its January 2014 release, the debut LP shows off “epic folk-pop chops” (Chicago Reader) with “undeniable chemistry reminiscent of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo” (Static Magazine) while also staying “stark and compelling … with well-crafted vocals” (Broken Hearted Toy).
