Types: Songs (2013)

Types’ demo ‘songs’ is a work of vox and love running off. Whether he’s backed in bedroom production electronica or sing soaring over glam Bowie out-takes, Types aka Tim K, has a powerfully soft voice that occurs infrequently on this ep and sticks to you all the better for it. Specifically, putting voice over Beck rendered Philip Glass, the track ’73 78 Honey’ is a beautiful arrangement of voices and words that sing on a damaged affair, admitting “I could never be honey.” Throw in the playful Beach Boys harmonies in ‘Empire Dance’, the booming ‘Robert Downey Jr.’ and its accompanying remix, and the eery instrumental May You Be Born On Anarres, and you have a wonderful set. @hiv_aidz
