The debut full-length album of fijuka blends pop and sonic experimentation under a sparkling mirror ball. 2 ½ years in the making, this record is shiny, sexy and saccharine on the outside, bleak, twisted and contemplative on the inside. Heavenly synthesizers, pounding yet always oh so funky basslines and a real voice (that girl can sing!) lull the listener into safety (or onto the dancefloor) while the lyrics spew the blackest of humours. Musical reference points might or might not include Kate Bush, Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac or Goldfrapp. The 11 original songs on this quiet/loud-love-hate affair have been recorded in Vienna between fall 2012 and summer 2013, a disco house remix by Munich’s Cpt. Yossarian (LaBrassBanda, Pollyester) completes the epic.
