High Pop: Hip Hip Hooray (2012)

"In celebration of / preparation for tour, Cactus-Mouth regulars High Pop have released their newest collection of songs. The album, which is arguably their proper debut, is called Hip Hip Hooray and it’s the next logical step in the High Pop catalog. Featuring 12 mostly mid-tempo tracks, Sean and Jordan have further separated themselves from their early days of playing loud & fast. The songs here not only feature hummable melodies, but the pair stirs in an extra helping of quirk to make the sound their own (even channeling Ariel Pink at times). The notoriously lo-fi duo has also made steps to wipe even more of the crust out of their eyes and have cleaned up their production a bit.
