Kalle Mattson: Lives in between (Ep, 2012)

“The Shore” is one of those heart-beat tempo songs where life seems to settle as you listen. Kalle Mattson typically carries himself with much more of an acoustic demeanor, he’s done well within those confines of meaningful lyrics and minimalist delivery yet it’s those strengths which actually caught me off guard the first time I heard “The Shore,” it would be easier for me to believe this was a different band completely, that’s how drastic the change felt. “The Shore” swims in the same Americana/Folk-Revival waters The War On Drugs have defined, I imagine if you’re a WOD fan you’ll be as infatuated and intrigued by this new dynamic to Mattson’s sound as I am. Although the overall Lives In Between EP this track comes from falls much more on the side of acoustic and chill-ambiance it remains one of the best EP’s I’ve had the pleasure of getting my ears on this year and there are no reservations to my saying it is more than worth your effort to get it for yourself (name-your-price through the Bandcamp link below). I dig this guys art regardless but I’m definitely hoping to hear more like “The Shore” from Kalle Mattson in the future, there’s too much strength in this song not to" (listenbeforeyoubuy.net)
