"Soulful and homely Hollis Brown‘s “Ride On The Train” is pure Americana, the likes of which have been laying practically dormant this year.
This track is timeless with its all encompassing yet nearly autobiographical lyrics, there is always a place for a song like “Ride On The Train.” Much of the strength, not only with this cut but with the entire “Nothing And The Famous No One EP”, is drawn from it’s live feel, it was a great move recording the album live to tape allowing us to experience incredible texture with a very real delivery giving us a glimpse into what we can expect when catching them live and taking away the production that nearly always becomes a stumbling block for similar artists.
If you dig “Ride On The Train” as much as I do you should follow the Bandcamp link below and download the entire EP for yourself, it’s free so you really don’t have an excuse for not doing so" (listenbeforeyoubuy.net)
