"Mark Redito is a pretty meek dude. Whether he is recording with his girlfriend Susan as My Parasol, recording on his own as spazzkid, or updating his personal bicycling blog, he is always quietly keeping himself busy one way or another. Aside from the occasional single here or there, Right Now is his most recent release and it gives us a pretty good snapshot of where his mind has been lately.
Sticking to fairly simplistic pop song structures, Mark has definitely fleshed out his songwriting more on these six tracks than on anything I’ve heard from him before. I wish there existed a less corny way of saying it, but I get a sense of playfulness from the music here. It’s fun to listen to him as he noodles around with glitchy beat tracks, washes the landscape in waves of aquatic synths, or mines the past for some rediscovered funk. It just sounds like whatever suit he is dressing the tracks up in, he is always having a good time doing so. And sometimes you’d be foolish to ask for anything more than that"
