Vinyl Williams: Higher words (Single, 2011)

"Mix all the shit that you and I like – kraut, walls of noise, atmospheric melodies, tremolo, bliss outs – and add a few dashes of sacred geometry, Alejandro Jodorowsky-style surrealism, and Egyptology, and you’ll achieve something close to LA’s Vinyl Williams. A multimedia artist that takes spiritual exploration and sonic intensity very seriously, Vinyl Williams’ first proper full-length, Lemniscate, offers an amalgam of both the timbre and ideas of psych rock that traverses three decades and myriad locales. That’s not to say this spectrum of sound comes across as a piecemeal effort. No sir/ma’am, Sir Williams magnificently strings together cavernous and cosmic mysticism, punchy shoegaze, and skewed acid pop in a cohesive body of songs that pulls the listener down a prismatic, resplendent spiral of mind loosening, feel good aural meditation. To quote the good Levar Burton’s catch phrase from Reading Rainbow (the show, not the band), “you don’t have to take… my word for it.” Have a listen to “Higher Worlds” below, and visit Vinyl Williams on Bandcamp to grip a copy" (Read: thedecibeltolls.com)
