Tear Jerks: Beefalo (7", 2011)

"I was sent this track a few days ago. It’s by a youthful Scottish band called Tear Jerks. When I inquired for more info on the project the guys told me only two things really. Firstly their forthcoming EP Easter Island is set to drop on the world on September 15th (on which label, I have no clue) and secondly their aim is to “try their best to rip off The Jesus and Mary Chain in every way possible.” Now while I’ve heard bands rip off JAMC much more blatantly than what you’ll hear on this track, I can definitely see where the influence comes into play. When everything comes together with the robust guitars and the crashing cymbals it creates an atmosphere of noise not totally foreign to early JAMC.
On another note, after conducting a simple Google search I found no less than three different versions of this track. There is the one you are hearing above, a “2 Close 2 Chill” version on the band’s skimpy bandcamp page, and a noisier/messier take found on a random soundcloud page (uploaded no less than one year ago). So what exactly is going on here? What does it mean? I’m not sure. All I know is I dig the track and maybe you will too. So give it a listen and maybe in the near future you and I can find out what it all means together" (Vía:
