The Pharmacy’s new EP starts off with a cover of Chrissy Zebby Tembo & Ngozi Family’s Trouble Maker. Their rendition of this Zambian 1974 fuzz monster sets the tone for the rest of the EP: psychedelic & heavy as the desert sun. See also their new 16mm-shot video for Ripped Weeds where the band finds itself tripping in the Tucson desert. The 4 tracks were written while shooting rats that would crawl along the power lines from the band’s house with a BB gun. The EP was recorded live to 8 track tape in the basement of a collectible car garage in Tacoma, Washington where the band slept on the bare cement floors. (Press)

The Pharmacy: Josephine (Single, 2012)

"Seems like The Pharmacy just released the EP “Dig Your Grave,” but the Seattle band is back already with a new four-song set, “Josephine,” that keeps the adrenaline pumping. Recorded in the same studio where Nirvana made “Bleach,” the songs on “Josephine” are a little less chaotic than “Dig Your Grave,” which is not to say they don’t still crackle with restless energy. The EP features two version of the title track, the hazy, acoustic-ish “LP version” and “Portland Version,” which trades the Laurel Canyon folk sound for a pell-mell garage-rock thing that sounds like it could go off the rails at any moment. But wait: LP version? That’s right: “Josephine” (and, for that matter, “Dig Your Grave”) are part of a forthcoming full-length album, ”Stoned & Alone,” due in digital form May 11 on Seayou Records" (listendamnit.com)

The Pharmacy: Dig your grave (Single, 2012)

"The Pharmacy is one of those bands that’s been around for a while, making kick-ass music mostly under the radar on three LP, some 7-inches and a whole bunch of live dates over the past decade.
After a stint in New Orleans, the group is back home in Seattle, where the trio recorded a new EP, “Dig Your Grave.” The title track is a riveting blast of garage-pop, featuring an insistent melody laced with fuzzed-over keyboards, jangling guitars and taut, tight drums, all delivered at a breakneck pace. It’s one of four songs on the EP, which is out on Wisconsin’s Kind Turkey label.
The Pharmacy has also just released a video for “Dig Your Grave,” and it’s a super-awesome Super 8 construction filmed to resemble a campy horror movie. Graphic? Yes. But after the throat-slitting, the ghouls rock out around a bonfire, so there’s that. The group has scheduled an enormous two-month coast-to-coast tour, including a bunch of dates at SXSW.
