Jasia: Safety (Single, 2014)

A single utilising a contrastingly bass-heavy/ambient variation of traditional rock instrumentation and synthesisers over a cyclical vocal motif leading into a pseudo-electronic arena rock finale. The song was produced over the span of six months spent between London and Montana in the Rocky Mountains of the US. It is accompanied by an experimental electronic B-side entitled Lowlife. The release will be supported by debut live touring engagements across Australia (Press)

Blackstone Rngrs: Descendant (2014)

Blackstone Rngrs clawed their way through North Texas’s urban mantle, finding the blood connections necessary to drink from their fermenting sonic emotions. The sacred marriage blends affection for modern electronic music with an urgent fetish for classic 4AD dreampop and noise. The orgy happens when swirls of orgasmic synthesizers embrace dripping guitars and tantric rhythms and pulses. Healthy doses of noise are always comforted by soft waterbeds of the ambient and dreamy.

Polaris Rose: Perfect view (from Telescopes, 2014)

Polaris Rose delivers a dynamic crash course in alternative rock on their full length debut album, “Telescopes” due out on November 11, 2014. The duo, consisting of Peter Anthony and Madelynn Elyse, combine emotional melodies and jarring instrumentation for a unique and experimental mix of tracks that make up their debut album. With the critical success of their seminal EP, OceanSongs, they received praise from publications like LA Deli Magazine, who named them “Artist of the Month.”  Their DIY approach has allowed them full creative freedom, leaving them to do all the songwriting and producing on “Telescopes,” so that the album itself became a true reflection of the band and it’s aesthetic. Each song is a testament to their talent, laced with lyrical motifs, from the fantastical descriptions of outer space to the stories of a doomed, endless search. Add to that the layers of vocals and atmospheric experimentation, it all comes together on ten extraordinary tracks you won’t be able to stop listening to.
Upon pushing play, “Perfect View” bursts to life with electric energy that overflows with intensity and esoteric contemplation. A song written about Madelynn and Peter’s cross-country move to Los Angeles, it slams into the listener with a deep emotional impact. On “Blue” they take a trip backwards, remembering an unloving relationship and the strength it took to overcome the emotional morass. Madelynn takes the lead, allowing her breathless vocals to spin across the beat that thumps with a laidback bustle. Dueling vocals appear on the swelling “Telescopes,” one of the first songs written for the album, and one that served as a guiding light throughout. An ascending vocal arc slams up against guitars as they sing of the tale about a lost searcher who desperately seeks the light of the stars, but will never catch them. Jumping forward, “Cityscapes” starts quietly, with guitars that shimmer like moonlight on water. Suddenly, the guitars explode into an electric river that howls beneath the songs anthem, "We should live our lives drinking deeply from a glass of ocean waves.” The playful  “PonyTail” develops into an outpouring of emotional melodic sparkle that is impossible to get out of your head. It’s a love song gone wrong, with tongue-and-cheek lyrics that seem to laugh despite their sadness. A real spark of brilliance bursts into a flame on the acidic “Set Me On Fire.” It’s a fascinating, spacious echo of sounds that blast through the harrowing “oo’s” of the chorus, clashing with a rhythmic pounding that shakes you to your core. A melodic finale to an energetic collection of songs.
On their debut full length album, Polaris Rose allow an influx of influences to further define their cohesive yet experimental sound. While they continue to add their dramatic flair, tempered harmonies, and dynamic instrumentation to each and every track; they never cease to search out opportunities to discover something new.

Teardrop Factory: Trash in the heart (2014)

Teardrop Factory's debut album, 'Thrash in the Heart', falls into existence in a swirling haze of broken sleep, streams of consciousness and teen despondency. The Brighton based duo pick up from where they left last year's excellent 'Topshop EP' but expand their alternative 90s worshiping earworms with an added layer of noise. Grit and scuzz consume 13 pop songs about mermaids, electric ghosts, car crashes, geometry, surfing, eating insects, video games and lucid dreams. Tina Muat and Andy Ward assumed a number of roles in the creative process of Thrash In The Heart, from committing their ideas to tape using a four track recorded before rummaging through each recording to flesh out the ideas into perfectly formed, fuzz-laden dreamscapes, to creating a matching aesthetic for the album’s artwork, videos and press shots.

Cancers: Fatten the leeches (2014)

CANCERS are an Athens-based alternative love child born to Ella Kaspar (DEAD DOG) and Lenny Miller (UNFUN) by way of Vancouver, Canada and New York City. The two met while toiling away on tour with their respective previous bands, and joined together out of a desire to craft their own music free from compromise. The result consists of crushing melodies, dreamy pop girl vocals, and new alternative guitars. While Cancers’ sound does evoke familiar grunge-era angst, Kaspar’s airy vocals, comparable to Beach House’s Victoria Legrand, distinguish the band from their predecessors, marrying vulnerability with sex. With their debut album Fatten the Leeches, the couple crawl hand-in-hand through anguish, alienation, despair and into the light. Tired of being pigeon-holed in the lo-fi DIY of their past, the band enlisted Jack Endino to produce the album. Endino’s early work with Seattle heavy-weights like Nirvana, Hole, Babes in Toyland and Soundgarden, established him as a king of underground rock records, and has been referred to as “the godfather of grunge.” Fatten the Leeches delivers, resolving Cancer’s adolescent lust for distortion and riffs with a satisfying pop sheen. Recorded at Soundhouse Studio in Seattle, "Fatten the Leeches" will be released on September 16 via Digital format. Dead Broke Rekerds will be handling the Vinyl & Cassette Tape, while their own label Kandy Kane Records, handles the CD version. Cancers will be playing a string of Midwest and East coast cities this summer/fall in support of their release.

Theo Berndt: Atomic (Single, 2014)

"Theo-mania in Tokyo" - THEO BERNDT is back with new single "Atomic" (INDIE)(SWE) Birds Will Sing For You 18:46 Conservar este mensaje en la parte superior de la bandeja de entrada Para: john.riley2@hotmail.com ”It was Theo-mania in the record stores of Tokyo" - Theo Berndt is back with new single! No, it's actually not a tabloid headline. It's how Theo Berndt put into words their career groundbreaking tour of Japan and China in 2013. The band's latest effort at the moment, full length album "F.E.A.R.S." was released through This Time Records in Asia to critical and commercial acclaim. The band did hysterical record signings and sold out shows in Tokyo. Apart from success in the Asian territory Theo Berndt has had a good run at Swedish college radio and has been playlisted at national P3. They've toured through Europe and played all major Swedish festivals. The new single, "Atomic", already spinning on national radio in native Sweden, is the first new release in two years; mixed by Andreas Söderlund (Niccokick, Hello Saferide) and recorded in hometown Gothenburg by Anders Lagerfors.

Globelamp: Star dust (2014)

Star Dust was recorded in many different houses across the United States. From Los Angeles, to Olympia, Washington to Woodstock, Connecticut. This was a project that aimed for other galaxies but exploded into Star Dust along the way. I started the project in a shed with a tape machine in Woodstock Connecticut, continued recording in Olympia Washington, & finished it in Los Angeles, Calfiornia This album is dedicated to Maia Hisamoto, who sat in the living room with us brainstorming this album. She died suddenly a week before her 24th birthday of the flu while I was on tour. Maia was not only my best friend but my biggest fan. She believed in me and this album more than anyone involved with it.

Scrabbled: Welcome to Pig City (2014)

Welcome to Pig City: the debut album from rag-tag Brisbane collective Scrabbled is finally yours to own on some long extinct media called ‘a cassette tape’. But who are Scrabbled and what’s the deal with them piggy-backing on the monumental success of Andrew Stafford’s Pig City? Well, Pig City is back in town alleges lead-vocalist and full-time dissident Bek Moore (Clag). “Have you seen the way they look? They’ve got no legs, bodies like eggs / They’re a bunch of crooks.” Joh’s back, baby! Campbell Newman is the new blood: he’s scrapped literature prizes, health initiatives and clean energy initiatives; terrorised every leather loving man on a motorcycle and taken aim at everyone from Lawyers to Ben & Jerry’s Ice-cream. Yeah, Brisbane can really suck a fat one. Scrabbled signifies the coming together of two different generations; the 80s punks that experienced Joh’s mighty cultural iron curtain and the Gen Y’s left to lean. If there’s enough of a racket we might finally get some piece and quiet. Featuring members of: Extrafoxx, Dag, Primitive Motion, Per Purpose, Muura, X Wave, Sun of The Seventh Sister, Gravel Samwidge, Bent, Dragster and more!

Plankton Dada Wave: Haus of Dada (2014)

Haus of Dada it's our last and better effort to take our dadaist, whimsical songwriting at its silliest. Not your average sad-post-punk-Joy-Division-wannabe album.

"If Robert Rodriguez made movies set in Rome and not Texas, you imagine this sort of thing might make his soundtracks." (The Guardian)

"Da Itália vem uma das maiores esquisitices musicais da atualidade, freak total, dadaísmo nonsense esquizofrênico musical com os dois pés fincados em gente como DEVO, Residents, Gang of Four, daí já dá pra se ligar que a pegada é pós punk new wave torto, mas bem torto mesmo" (The blog that celebrates itself")

"Praticamente i Plankton Dada Wave sono una piccola enciclopedia racchiusa in sei brani. Il bell’ep “Haus Of Dada” è infatti un prodotto quasi dadaista nel quale la dissacrazione delle regole avviene attraverso la scientifica applicazione di mille regole diverse."(Rockit)

"Funky and fun-filled, spastic and catchy" (X-Mist records)

"Well son, if you dig when XTC got arty or Watts bass playing on DOS, then this interesting mix of pseudo prog punk will be your thing." (Review Stalker)

“Frank Zappa meeting ska-punk meeting XTC meeting Flaming Lips” (Traks)

"Sei pezzi contagiosi per energia e sfacciataggine" (Sette-Corriere della Sera)

"Their sound comes across like a post-whatever energetic funny funk-punk-rock-dada-humor-party-music." (Yeah I know it sucks)

"Una sorta di cazzeggio continuo ma sempre sotto controllo e carico di umorismo." (Rock of Ages)

Tom Levin: More than a song (Single, 2014)

Tom Levin has released five albums, played at festivals in New Orleans, he has been a frequent name on american critics lists of the year's best music and received a New Music Award for best male artist. Now he is releasing a double album consisting of records ”Them Buffalo” and ”Them Feet”. Making two records was an unexpected result of the attempt to make an upbeat album. - When I wrote the songs to ”Them Feet”, my idea was to make an album with a faster beat compared to previous ones. But when it was completed I realized, in spite of a few more up beat songs than before, that it was a pretty slow album. I immediately decided to have another go. With the help from a metronome, on which I enhanced the tempo, I embraced the stadium rocker within me and began writing, says Tom. Some of the songs were written when Tom was involved with project The House of Songs, where artists from all over the world and different genres, come together to write music. ”Girl from Nova Scotia” is a tribute to artist Mo Kenny, who attented The House of Songs together with Tom and who's later won several awards in Canada. Other lyric themes are life-long friendship, bisons, grandmothers, everyday life as a parent and having discussions about human values with men at carrentals.

Noveller: Into the dunes (Single, 2014)

"Brooklyn-based experimental musician Sarah Lipstate plays with effects and layers on this guitar-based track from her upcoming album, Fantastic Planet. The five-minute cut gives just a taste of the album's expansive, cinematic feel, as the slow guitar lines that open the track give way to a distorted, hypnotic wave of sound at the halfway point" (All Music)

The Autumn Stone: Beautiful freaks (2014)

This little gem has sneaked out over the last few weeks or so with little in the way of fanfare. While this may seem initially unjust, it soon becomes apparent that the tone of "Beautiful Freaks" is so intimate, that any form of grand statement would be against its nature. Recorded on an old reel to reel in the Catskill Mountains of New York by James Cassidy with the assistance of his partner Syd Lane, "Beautiful Freaks"is a lovely little record that deals with lofty, universal themes in a hushed and intimate fashion, forming an easy and solid bond with the listener. "Beautiful Freaks" doesn't have a lot in common with the glossy psychedelia of 2014. Instead it nestles comfortably at the feet of albums like "The Soft Bulletin", "Deserter's Songs" and "Good Morning Spider" - classics of a certain vintage that scale near unreachable heights, and Cassidy and Lane sound perfectly natural and unforced in this stellar company. Cassidy's arrangements fuse lo-fi Americana with appealingly wobbly, vintage keys to tap into what appears to an outsider to be an almost mythical American Gothic. Draped in a peculiar melancholy, these songs are often startlingly direct examples of outsider music, with "In Charge of Stars" wrestling its way to the top of the pile, followed very closely by simple hypnotic charms of the zen-like "The River Song".
