A Thousand Fuegos: Seayou (Single, 2012)

"Outside of the laid back introspective albums which come with the onset of fall this is the best time of the year for new music, when we start hearing the albums which will encapsulate the upcoming summer with positive sounds and optimistic live-in-the-moment lyrics, “No Up No Down” from A Thousand Fuegos is a perfect example. Combining cryptic lyrics with electro-pop craftsmanship, Austrian native A Thousand Fuegos creates songs as heavy and mystic as the moniker itself, which is a biblical reference to the miracle at Pentecost. I could listen to this song on repeat and each time take away a new meaning from it. Are we to take these songs as metaphors or are his religious undertones meant to be taken at face value? This song exemplifies the beauty of art, for where I take lines like “…there’s a past and there’s a future and it’s just one and the same, and it’s the moment between moments that gives time passing a name. So I dangle through the country spread the word like a disease and when you’re done building that monument I take it down easily with the first summer breeze,” as reflective it’s easy to see others embracing them as something much more. No need to dive too deeply into semantics when the music itself is as purely great as this. “No Up No Down” is the first single from The Treachery Of Things which came out earlier this month, it is a record I highly recommend" (listenbeforeyoubuy.net)
